I just got a similar "current" shot over the weekend with ex SP SD40M-2s and UP SD40-2s.

You can all mourn the loss of the SP, but I will not miss their greasy, grimy, unwashed, paint burned off the flanks power !

The Grease and Grime made the SP what it was... Nothing better than a very dirty SD45T-2 on the point in my mind...

Makes it a challenge to model the SP but I enjoy "griming" up my models... ;- )

Awsome photo!!! what does the E stand four in SD9E

The E designation was to denote that it was rebuilt.

I don't know what's better here. The pure SP paint, an all EMD consist, or the SD9 "Cadillac" leading the pack! Very nice!!!

Hit the homepage again! Sadly the SP closed its doors when I was only two years old, but I still see her patch units showing up in UP consists from time to time.
